India is currently battling the effects of the second wave of Covid-19 and to reduce the transmission of this virus many state governments have imposed lockdowns. 1. Hyundai Alcazar

Hyundai Alcazar is arguably the most anticipated vehicle out of the entire list that we have today. Alcazar is a seven and six seater version of the popular Hyundai Creta but Alcazar is bigger than the Creta. It has a longer wheelbase, it will support three rows inside with six and seven-seater configurations.

In terms of design language, the exterior will be very similar to the Creta but there are some changes apart from this because the Alcazar is supposed to be a more premium offering. It will support a lot of features on the inside as well like a 10.25-inch touchscreen, infotainment system with connected car technology 360-degree camera, sunroof front ventilated seats and a smartphone wireless charging pad.

Talking of the powertrains it will get two engine options one will be the 1.5-litre diesel engine and the other engine is the 2.0-litre petrol engine. It’s expected to launch in the second half of June.

2. ŠKODA KUSHAQ

ŠKODA KUSHAQ has been specifically designed for India. Talking about the engine options, it will come with two turbo petrol engines and there is no diesel option because the Skoda no longer makes diesel engines for India.

If we talk more about engines, then one of them is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine while the other one is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine producing 115 and 150 bhp respectively. These engines will come mated with a six-speed manual gearbox. The smaller 1.0-litre engine will have the option of a six-speed automatic while the 1.5 litres will have the option of a 7-speed DSG.

KUSHAQ will come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, infotainment system with android auto apple car play and connected car technology.

Skoda just announced the first production unit of Kushaq from the Pune factory and from July they are gonna start the delivery to its customers who have already booked the car.

Skoda initially had plans to launch their new executive sedan in May 2021, but due to the global pandemic and lockdown, the plants were paused. Now talking of changes you get a wider front grille, on the sides, you will find 17-inch alloy wheels and altogether the exterior of the new Octavia looks a lot more sleek and sharp.

Talking of the powertrains you just get 1 two-litre turbo petrol engine which is borrowed from the Superb and it makes 190 bhp and 320 newton meters of peak torque while there is no official word on the price but we do expect it to cost somewhere between 18 to 23 lakh rupees ex-showroom.

Volkswagen won’t be done with their work by just launching the tycoon compact SUV.

They will also launch the five-seater version of Taigun for India. The company had plans to launch a total of four SUVs in India and the five-seater new Taigun would be the final piece in that puzzle.

The five-seater model of the Volkswagen new Taigun would be occupying a segment of the market that has been seeing some action lately. It will go up against Jeep compass, Škoda Kushaq, Citroen C5 aircross, etc.

Talking about the powertrains, it will get the same 2-litre diesel and petrol engines that you also see in the all space model and it will come mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox petrol and diesel.

5. Audi e-Tron

Audi e-Tron is the first fully electric SUV from the company. It was supposed to launch last year in India but due to the crisis and lack of charging infrastructure in India the launch had to be pushed for year 2021.

Audi e-Tron is powered by two electric motors which produce a combined power output of 408 horsepower and 664-newton meters of peak torque there is a 95 kilowatt hour battery and the vehicle has a claimed range of 452 kilometres in a single full charge.

The company could offer the e-Tron in India in two variants, the standard version and the Sportback which comes with a sloping roofline that looks a lot sportier than the regular model.
