The SUV segment is thriving in India. People are demanding any type of SUV – from the smallest sub-compact to the largest full-size model version of an SUV.
Tata Motors has announced the soon-to-be release of its brand new model which falls under the popular “SUV” (short for Sports Utility Vehicle) category. The model is a continuation of the Tata Punch (HBX) SUV concept vehicle that was first unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020.
Tata Motors has revealed a sporty new hatchback called the Tata Punch. You may not know it, but this is actually based on the popular HBX concept – although this has been updated in terms of design thanks to its bold looks that have been inspired by Tata’s ambitious Impact 2.0 theme.
The Tata Punch is based on the ALFA platform which means that it will share much of its design with the Altroz – but it benefits from an extra dose of sportiness!
The upcoming Tata Punch (HBX) is a mechanical mix of beauty and brawn. This is a vehicle that does not sacrifice its lightness, regardless of being powerful enough to ‘punch’ in all directions.
Coming equipped with superior design and top-tier technology, the PUNCH will give the driver a mechanically sophisticated decision both in terms of aesthetics and performance.
Speaking on the debut of the new model, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, President Passenger Vehicle Business Unit at Tata Motors said: “Tata PUNCH is an enchanting vehicle that will inspire everyone to go where no car has been before.
With its captivating looks and robust features, this powerful car will appeal to those looking for a stylish and spirited ride that’s also incredibly versatile. With its refined design, high-tech features and impeccable performance, this saloon truly punches above its weight.”
True to Tata Motors’ SUV genes, the PUNCH will be an SUV designed for modern customers who are looking for a compact vehicle with car-like characteristics that also offers the benefits of an SUV. With these qualities in mind, the PUNCH will be another addition to Tata Motors’ growing line-up of SUVs.
Features and Specifications of Tata Punch (HBX)
The front end of the Tata Punch resembles that of larger Tata cars like the Harrier as well as other Tata SUVs with vehicle lighting systems, hood-level DRLs, and main beams housed in focal points found in the body.
Stylish lighting features a sleek striped upper grille finish, glossy black. The practical-looking bumper and flare wheel arches add to this SUV’s tough-looking stance.
In the side profile, the car looks sleek and neat with the wheels being dual-toned to match the rest of the body. It gives a very stylish look and complements the curvaceous body as well. The car has very crisp shoulder lines combined with an A-pillar that is similar to that of a Maruti Ignis.
The rear ends also follow suit by having wraparound tail lights and a roof spoiler that completes its sporty looks. Additionally, it has a small skid plate, thus giving it some uniqueness and helping it stand out from other cars on the road.
The car features a 7.0-inch infotainment unit that will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument console, a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, push-button start/stop, and automatic climate control.
The safety features offered to the driver include dual frontal airbags along with ABS and EBD. Other additional features include rear parking sensors that come with an invisible backing radar function.
Tata Motors’ newest hatchback will be sold with a 1.2-liter naturally-aspirated engine that will offer a maximum power of 85 bhp along with a peak torque of 113 Nm. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.
The new model could even receive TSI or Diesel engine options at a later stage, but it won’t just be AMT which will be provided to consumers as it has been reported before.
Tata Punch(HBX) Launch date and Pricing
Tata has just launched the Tiago NRG, so it might launch its new hatchback called the HBX at some point over the festive season. We believe this will happen in late September or early October.
The price of the car at launch could be between ₹5 lakh and ₹8 lakh (ex-showroom) and we also expect it will compete with the new Maruti Celerio X, the upcoming Ford Ignis Hyundai A-segment SUV
