Visually it is hard to distinguish between the BS4 & BS6 variants apart, as the design hasn’t been tweaked. The model fits perfectly into the easy-going, fun and youthful narrative, capturing the character of a modern classic. With its classic tear-drop tank, the Interceptor is a flattering blend of timeless styling and contemporary performance.

The 650 Twins get new paint schemes: Standard Single Tone – Canyon Red and Ventura Blue which come with additional features like blacked-out rims & mudguards, Custom Dual Tone: DownTown Drag & Sunset Strip, along with an updated Chrome variant.

Few other colours like Single Tone Orange Crush & Dual Tone Baker’s Express have been carried forward due to its strong demand in the market. Glitter Dust, Mark Three, Silver Spectre and Ravishing Red are a few colours that have been discontinued on the 2021 Interceptor 650.

In all, the colour palette has 7 colour options for its customers to opt from. Royal Enfield has begun its bookings for Interceptor 650 across all dealerships for the year 2021.

Royal Enfield hosts a new offering with MiY for Interceptor 650 like two seat options: Standard Touring Dual Seat and Touring Seat with Ribbed Style Stitched & Cowl Finish, engine guards, sump guards, touring mirrors, tall and short tinted flyscreens and more.

it also offers personalization and accessorizing like painted screen kit in black, bar-end mirrors, pump guards and more, which come with a two-year warranty.

The engine’s flexible nature is quite impressive. It is good for city ride and having said so, it doesn’t fail to impress on the highway, offering you the rush and speed of its immense power.

To meet cleaner emissions, the engine has lost only 0.2 bhp of power which doesn’t impact the performance at large. In fact, the BS6 interceptor is a tad bit faster than its earlier BS4 version.

It is tuned to produce quick torque and runs from 0-60kmph in 2.98 secs when compared to its earlier 3.07 secs of BS4, while it accelerates 0-100kmph in 6.66 secs in contrast to 6.89 of the earlier version.

The BS6 engine has also made the engine slightly smoother sounding along with delivering better fuel efficiency. It also has a balancer shaft to make the engine smooth, keeping the vibrations in check.

Even at high speeds and at a peak torque of 52Nm there is no strain or any kind of rattling or protest froa m the engine, making the engine performance immaculate over other competitor bikes.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has a dual-channel ABS of 320 mm front and 240 mm rear disc, mid-set footpegs and a bench seat, with a 6-speed transmission engine with an assist and slipper clutch. The bike is on the heavier side weighing 202 kg without fuel.

Apart from the BS6 engine, no other features or design has been changed, having the same upfront cradle frame telescopic fork, twin gas-charged shock absorbers, wire-spoke wheels and specially crafted Pirelli tyres.

The 13.75-litre fuel tank is kept simple, with taller handlebars to add to the comfort. The chassis of the interceptor offers clear feedback, having strong brakes, which inspire confidence during speed rides.

Although a few tweaks to the suspension for dealing with poor road conditions, a gear positioning indicator, a clock on the instrumental panel and LED headlights are a few changes that would have been welcome.

Also, the soft and narrow seats are a little uncomfortable for longer rides, which is a minor change that can be made.

The on-road price of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is 3.2 lakh in Mumbai and gets a little costlier with special colour options which is acceptable as this bike gives an involving riding experience. Even with the additional pricing, Interceptor 650 is by far the most affordable 650cc bike.

With quality fit and finish levels, the motorcycle is built to last. Given the all-round experience and styling, Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is the most anticipated motorcycle of the year.
