Lotus Emira an all-new iconic supercar breaks cover: Lotus is a British automotive company from England that manufactures sports & racing cars and was previously involved in Formula One racing, winning the championship about seven times. The Lotus cars are characterized by their lightweight and fine handling. Lotus positions itself as a drivers car with innovative engineering, cutting edge technologies and advanced materials to give it agility and precision.
Lotus Emira: The Big Announcement
Lotus has now amazed us by bringing in Emira- an adorable name for its upcoming car, which means leader or commander after more than a decade. The non-electrified car has thrilling, exotic, new supercar looks which would go fully electric later this decade. The big announcement and unveiling of Emira took place at Hethel, Norfolk where it is also going to be built. Its dynamic debut will take place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 8-11.
Emira will mark the last time Lotus unveils an internal combustion engine-powered car with a promising new era for the company and new money coming in, under the majority ownership of Geely. This global car is for everyday use with a wider appeal, enhanced comfort combined with class-leading Lotus driving dynamics.
Engine, Powertrain, Transmission & Performance
Lotus Emira will have either of the two petrol engines mounted in the middle: a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, turbocharged AMG unit or Toyota sourced supercharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine from the outgoing Exige and the Evora. With the stick shift, Emira would have a maximum torque of up to 430 Nm and would be tuned to deliver a heart-racing 360hp.
The car can sprint from 0-100kmph in 4.5secs with a top speed of 290kmph. The rear wheels are fed exclusively through a dual-clutch automatic transmission. Transmissions are handled by manual, automatic and 8-speed DCT gearboxes. It has a hydraulically assisted setup, unlike the electric power steering used in other modern sports cars. This setup is believed to provide a better feel and feedback.
Design, Interior, Cargo & Comfort
With beautiful sportscar proportions, designed with heavy influence from Evija, Emira has an aggressive design, luxurious cabin with sleek LED headlights and 20-inch Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport wheels. It has a sloping roofline, muscular hood with vents, a wide arm dam, flanked by 2-doors, large air scoops, ORVMs, narrow taillights and dual exhaust pipes.
With efficient aerodynamics, it is the only car in its class to generate significant downforce, generating outstanding performance and exceptional grips at all speeds. Smart design & technology offers crisp feature lines and enhanced stability respectively.

Pricing, Availability & Competition
Lotus Emira would be up for grabs by summer 2022, with a starting price of less than ₤60,000 in UK, with no news of launch in India for now for the ultimate model. At the time of launch a V-6 equipped First-Edition flagship model will be introduced.
